Circling: The Practice of Being Truly Seen

Circling is a profound act of love.

Why Circling Is a Profound Act of Love This Valentine’s Day
By Lady Sophia West

When was the last time someone truly saw you?
Not admired you. Not desired you. Not needed you.

Just actually saw you.

The part of you that doesn’t perform well. The part that hesitates before speaking. The part that doesn’t know what it wants yet and knows when it’s being met.

For most people, this kind of seeing is so rare it feels almost dangerous. We live in a culture of curated intimacy, carefully chosen words, polished identities, relationships built on roles rather than presence. We call it connection, but what we’re really doing is managing proximity. And our bodies know the difference.

This is why I invited Mat Weddle to teach Circling for our Second Saturday, on Valentine’s Day!

Because love, in its original form, is not romance. It is attention. It is presence without agenda. It is the willingness to stay when nothing is being fixed

Circling Is Not What You Think It Is

Circling is often described as relational meditation, but that barely scratches the surface. It is a practice of entering the field between people and letting it speak. You don’t arrive with a story. You don’t perform insight. You don’t lead with wisdom. You arrive with sensation. Breath. Nervous system. Truth.

In Circling, you slow down enough to feel what’s actually happening inside your body, inside another person, and in the invisible architecture of connection itself. The space between you becomes alive, responsive, intelligent. This is not self-help. It is not therapy. It is not spiritual bypass. It is an initiation into presence with another human being.

Attune. Deepen. Express.

Mat teaches Circling through three movements, though they’re less steps and more thresholds:

– Attune – You learn to listen to your body as an oracle. What is happening now as you meet another person’s eyes, words, or silence?
– Deepen -You stay. Past the impulse to explain. Past the urge to disappear. You let the experience reveal its roots without shame or correction.
– Express – You speak from what Mat calls strength-in-vulnerability: truth without collapse, honesty without armor.

This sounds simple. It is not. Most of us were conditioned to surrender these capacities early in life. We learned to override sensation, to hide uncertainty, and to trade authenticity for belonging. Circling does not ask you to become better. It asks you to become honest.

Why This Work Is So Rare and So Necessary

I have watched thousands of people awaken spiritually. And I have watched many of them remain profoundly alone. They can access higher realms, move subtle energy, and speak fluently about consciousness however they tend to almost panic when another human being actually meets them. Because presence in relationship dismantles illusion.

You can’t hide behind spiritual language. You can’t escape into transcendence. You can’t curate your image in real time. Your patterns show up. Your defenses speak. Your nervous system tells the truth.

This is why relational presence is the final frontier of awakening. Not because it is glamorous but because it is real.

Who This Is For (And Who It Will Challenge)

Circling is for people who are done pretending that connection should be easy. For partners who want intimacy without control. For parents who want to see their children not manage them. For healers, teachers, and leaders who understand that presence is the work. For teams and communities ready to replace politeness with trust.

If you are comfortable being admired but not seen, this practice will unsettle you. If you are willing to be met exactly as you are, it will change you.

The Principles Are Simple. Living Them Is Not.

In Circling: Everything that arises is welcome. The present moment is sovereign. Impact is shared, not assigned. Experience is owned, not projected. Curiosity replaces judgment. These are not techniques. They are vows.

Why Valentine’s Day Is the Perfect Portal

Valentine’s Day is usually devoted to the performance of romance, desirability, and success in love. Circling offers something more dangerous. Presence. To sit across from another person and not try to impress, convince, or fix, but to witness. To be witnessed in return. To let love be something that happens through you rather than something you do. Mat’s session landing on Valentine’s Day is no accident; the universe seemed to have orchestrated it perfectly. Because this is love without costume. Love that says: “I see you.” And does not look away.

What to Expect

This is not a just lecture. You will be guided into lived experience, slowing your pace, tuning your attention, and entering authentic contact with others in a carefully held container. There is nothing to achieve. Nothing to solve. Nothing to optimize. Only the practice of staying present.

A Valentine That Actually Matters

The quality of your life is determined by the quality of your relationships. And the quality of your relationships is determined by your capacity for presence. Not charisma. Not intelligence. Not spiritual attainment. Presence.

This webinar session can be a Valentine’s Day gift you offer to that capacity. A remembering of what love felt like before it was managed. If you feel the pull, trust it. I’ll see you at the threshold.
